Where Sealant Matters Most
Silicone is not permanent. It shrinks, it loses its bond to the tile or the tray, and once water gets behind it the mould grows on the back of the bead where you cannot clean it. That is why scrubbing black silicone never works for long — it only makes the seal worse, as scrubbing can damage the silicone and cause further problems. The only real fix is to cut it out and start again.
We use sanitary-grade, mould-resistant silicone from Soudal, Kerakoll and Everbuild, colour matched to your grout, and finish every bead with a wooden tool cut to the perfect size for the best seal.

Full Cut Out
We remove every bit of silicone — never going over the top or joining onto what's already there. This gives the new seal the best possible bond, and the best chance of lasting for years.

Clean & Sterilise
Once the old silicone is cut out and vacuumed away, we degrease and treat every joint, then dry it with hot air. A joint that isn't completely dry stops the new silicone from forming a true seal.

Reseal & Finish
Once all the prep work is done, we colour match the silicone to your grout, using only the best sanitary-grade product for the best results. We tidy up as we go, and after 24 hours your bathroom can be used.

How much does it cost to reseal a bath or shower?
Most domestic cut out and reseal jobs fall between roughly £120 and £300 depending on how many joints there are, how bad the old sealant is and whether you want the grout cleaning at the same time. We give you a fixed price before we start, with no upfront costs and no obligation. Send us a couple of photos on WhatsApp and we can usually quote the same day.
How long does a cut out and reseal take?
A single bath or shower is normally 1 - 2 hours. A full bathroom including the vertical corners, floor perimeter and window reveals etc is usually 2 - 3 hours. Most homes are done in one visit.
Why does my silicone go black and mouldy?
Mould growth on silicone usually comes down to one of two things. The first is poor ventilation — always run the extractor fan when using the shower or bath, and if there's a window in the bathroom, keep it open. The second is moisture sitting on the silicone after use — squeegee the tiles and then gently wipe the silicone dry with a soft cloth, taking care not to press too hard as excessive pressure can peel the bead. If mould has already taken hold, the only real fix is to cut the old silicone out completely and reseal, but drying the silicone after every use is the best way to keep it looking clean for longer.
How long before I can use the shower after resealing?
We ask for 24 hours before the joint gets wet. The silicone skins over in around 20 minutes but it needs a full day to cure all the way through. Using it too early is the single most common reason a reseal fails.
How long should bathroom silicone last?
A properly applied silicone seal should last up to five years, and we've seen it last well beyond that when conditions are right. How long it actually lasts depends on a few key factors. The biggest is movement — baths and showers need to be installed on a wooden frame that's securely fixed to the wall and floor, so there's no flex when weight is added. If a bath or shower isn't properly secured, the silicone will fail no matter how well it's applied. You can test this yourself by pushing down on the sides or standing in it — if it's not secure, you'll feel it drop slightly and may see a gap open up between the tray or bath and the tiles. The fix is to have a frame added to eliminate the movement. The second factor is surface preparation — silicone applied to joints that aren't properly cleaned will often fail within weeks or months. The third, common with DIY jobs or general handymen, is using ordinary silicone rather than a sanitary-grade, mould-resistant sealant.
